Study: Current regulations in times of coronavirus
University of Bayreuth 2021 summer semester teaching: Mix of online & in-person teaching
For teaching in the 2021 summer semester, the University of Bayreuth will offer online courses and face-to-face courses as needed. We will ensure that there is a comprehensive and high-quality range of courses in all degree programmes that will enable students to successfully begin and continue their studies in the 2021 summer semester.
Not all courses can be implemented in an online format, or make sense as such didactically. We will therefore offer laboratory practicals, practical tutorials, and seminars in-person as necessary for particular courses of study, all the while adhering strictly to applicable hygiene standards - as far as the legal situation and infection control regulations allow.
With this approach, the University of Bayreuth intends to react flexibly to the pandemic to ensure a high degree of feasibility and progress in all study programmes.
Individual faculties will provide comprehensive information on the exact regulations applying to individual study programmes in good time, at the latest by March 15, 2021.
Digital teaching until the end of the lockdown in Germany (that is to say until 07.03.2021 for the time being)
Back to digital teaching remains valid: until the end of the current lockdown (07.03.2021) for the time being. As was the case last semester, exceptions will be made for laboratory work, internships, examinations, practical (including sports) training, and artistic training phases. These may continue to be held in-person under the conditions with which you are already familiar.
- Compulsory wearing of face masks still applies: Everywhere on the premises of the University of Bayreuth (including its branch offices) it is compulsory for everyone to wear a simple face mask at all times, unless you are in an office alone.
- Laboratories will remain open for research and also for practical laboratory courses.
- Study rooms and CIP pools must be closed by 14 January.
- In-person examinations and courses: Planned written and oral examinations as well as sports, music, and practical artistic in-person examinations will continue to be permitted in compliance with the strict hygiene and social distancing regulations. Practical in-person music courses will also be allowed.
- Deadlines: With regard to deadlines for module examinations, term papers, and final theses, there is no central regulation or general cancellation of deadlines. Please contact the individual departments for more information.
- Software: Students with special software needs (e.g. MAXQDA), which can only be accessed free of charge via the CIP pools, should inform their supervising lecturers of this need. You will then be assigned a fixed workstation in a special CIP pool.
- University Library pick-up service: The University Library offers a pick-up service for urgently needed literature. The libraries remain closed. Collection will take place at the library entrance. The print stations, book scanners, the PCs and workstations will still be inaccessible. Please check the website of the Universitätsbibliothek for current regulations and services.
- The Frischraum and the canteens (cafeteria and NW III) are opened with the current range of food - only take away!
In particular, the following provisions apply
- Please note the binding rules of the University of Bayreuth for visiting the campus and branch offices
- Even without validation of the Campuscard on site, the semester ticket can be used as usual in the 2020/2021 winter semester. For the time being and until further notice, the ticket will be the enrolment certificate in combination with valid photo ID.
Dates
- The start of lectures for Winter Semester 2020/21 is to be postponed from 12 October to 2 November, 2020.
- The end of lectures will move from 5 February to 12 February, 2021.
