It doesn't take a hundred years to make a name for yourself in the national and international university environment. The University of Bayreuth is the best proof that it can be done faster. From our founding in 1975, we have consistently thought along interdisciplinary lines. Today, this has made us pioneers of innovative research and teaching.

Research
The high academic reputation and international significance of the University of Bayreuth's research is demonstrated by its positions in rankings such as the THE Young University Ranking, the Nature Index, the THE Ranking and the Humboldt Ranking.
Digitisation
Students gave the University of Bayreuth top marks for the level of digitalisation on campus at the Digital Campus Awards. For example, the digital quality of lectures and media equipment were assessed.
Sustainability
Sustainability is an important topic for us and is firmly anchored in our philosophy and strategy. This endeavour is rewarded by our positions in THE Impact Ranking.
Teaching

The Shanghai-Ranking oder Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) is a prestigious university ranking carried out by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. It was first published in 2003 and is one of the oldest and most influential university rankings. Similar to THE WUR, the Times Higher Education Young University Ranking (THE YUR) evaluates universities based on criteria such as teaching, research, citations, international orientation and industrial revenue, with the difference that the universities must be less than 50 years old. In addition, reputation-based indicators are given less weight than citation-based and data-based indicators.
