That defines us
Interdisciplinary research for a sustainable food system
The Faculty of Life Sciences: Food, Nutrition, and Health focuses on holistic research addressing the key challenges of food production, healthy nutrition, and disease prevention. Scientific, economic, sociological, legal, and psychological perspectives are combined to develop innovative and sustainable solutions.
Research fields and infrastructures for sustainable solutions in nutrition and health
Key research areas include metabolomics, epigenomics, bioinformatics, digital health, and new breeding methods. To enable eKicient, interdisciplinary research, specialized core facilities are being established on the Kulmbach campus, including mass spectrometry for molecular analysis and an epigenetics facility. A powerful IT infrastructure ensures that modern research approaches can be eKectively implemented.
