Digital Technologies Lab
For a world in which digitalization is used responsibly for individuals, businesses, and society.
The Digital Technologies Lab (DTL) is led by Prof. Dr. Anna Maria Oberländer, Junior Professor of Business Informatics and Digital Transformation. It combines the expertise of the junior professor with the know-how and competencies of nine other business informatics professorships through the FIM Research Institute for Information Management and the Business Informatics Branch of Fraunhofer FIT.
In the Digital Technologies Lab, we specifically pool competencies across application domains, methodological areas, and technologies. Our goal is to make a sustainable and tangible contribution to research, teaching, and practice, as well as to the training of experts in the field of digitalization.
We strive to strengthen the innovative strength in Upper Franconia and promote the transfer of ideas, knowledge, and technology for the regional economy and society.

We are the contact point for designing tomorrow's digital solutions:
Company-specific applied research projects
The DTL supports companies from a wide range of industries and sectors with their individual problems. The participating research groups utilize specialist and methodological expertise in the field of business informatics to develop holistic and customized solutions for companies as part of contract research.
Publicly funded consortium research projects
The DTL works in an interdisciplinary manner with companies from a wide range of industries and sectors, with common funding bodies at the federal and state levels, and with the European Union. The participating research groups often coordinate the
drafting of proposals and applications, as well as the implementation of the corresponding projects. In this way, companies benefit not only from close exchange within the consortium, but also from multi-year collaboration with renowned funding bodies.
Technology, strategy, and innovation workshops
The cooperation opportunities with the DTL range from interactive one- or multi-day technology, strategy, and innovation workshops to research projects lasting several months.
Teaching Collaborations
Our research network oKers companies in teaching collaborations the opportunity to help shape the teaching oKerings of participating chairs and professorships in areas such as business administration, business informatics, and industrial engineering through guest lectures or joint seminars.

Let's work together, as in the IncoTechSeniors cooperation project

Our IncoTech4Seniors collaborative project for modern and dignified incontinence carefor seniors.
inContAlert is a medical technology startup that has developed a wearable to measure bladder fill levels. Their sensor technology captures body data and evaluates it using AI algorithms. The results are visually displayed in an app and warn incontinence patients of critical fill levels. Our joint project "IncoTech4Seniors" focuses on seniors. A previously developed machine learning model will be integrated directly into the wearable, enabling use independent of the internet or smartphone. The wearable will enable seniors to manage their daily lives independently again, without being overwhelmed by technological solutions.
