Molecular Ecology, Master of Science (M.Sc.)
The Master's programme "Molecular Ecology" combines two focus areas of the University of Bayreuth: "Ecology & the Environmental Sciences“ und "Molecular Biosciences". The focus is on the molecular mechanisms with which microorganisms, plants, and animals adapt to biotic and abiotic environmental factors, as well as the molecular interactions between organisms. In laboratory and field studies, the practice-oriented course of studies conveys ecological interrelationships ranging from the genetic basis to evolutionary effects on complex ecosystems.
Even during my bachelor's degree in biology, I was sure that I would do my master's in Bayreuth. The master's programme is diverse, the professors are renowned, and they work on exciting research projects. The Molecular Ecology programme combines molecular and ecological biosciences. In my master's thesis, I am investigating 'Predator-prey relationships in plankton organisms'. I am benefiting from the good laboratory equipment at the University. I feel very well supervised and have lots of contact with other master's students. Everyone helps everyone here, across disciplines.
