Computer Game Studies, Master of Arts (M.A.)/ Master of Science (M.Sc.)
Computer games have become an inherent part of our cultural landscape: the games industry is a central component of the cultural and creative industries in Germany. Some 320 companies are currently engaged in the development and marketing of digital games as their core business. At the same time, the examination of the still young medium of computer games is increasingly becoming a focus of scientific research.
The course content is partly computer science and partly media science. Depending on the degree you are aiming for, you can set a focus. This is particularly important for the final project and the Master's thesis - your own work must be in the relevant field. (...) It is possible to complete all of this in the standard period of study, but it doesn't leave too much time to take advantage of the many other great offers in addition to the mandatory courses: for example, there are a lot of additional courses in various areas, several game jams per year, a developer get-together, excursions, student projects and concerts, the media night and various game evenings, organized by the student councils or students themselves.
