World class research demands strong infrastructure. The University of Bayreuth’s excellent research infrastructure helps ensure a work environment that is highly-respected all over the world.
Our research centres and research units provide all the prerequisites, not least for interdisciplinary research. Scientific exchange between research groups at the various faculties benefits from the unique advantages of the central campus such as the stimulating atmosphere, having everything you need right at your doorstep, and close contacts bridging disciplinary boundaries. This enables us to tap key synergies that permanently integrate members into a network of cooperation, and at the same time help optimise their work.
Externally, we are cooperating to an increasing degree with non-university research institutions to continually inject fresh impetus to the stimulating environment for science and business in Bayreuth.
Our research bodies at a glance
In the research centres, interdisciplinary researchers from several faculties work together. In addition to research and teaching, the main task of the research centres is the acquisition of third-party funding.
Research units are scientific institutions assigned to a faculty. Their further development into research centres is possible if they promote the establishment of interdisciplinary research networks.
