1. American Football Summit in Germany takes place at the Uni Bayreuth
American football is becoming increasingly fascinating - also in Germany. The University of Bayreuth is therefore hosting the 1st American Football Summit in Germany on 2 November 2023. The focus will be on both economic and sporting aspects and the future of the NFL in Germany.
The Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bayreuth is organising the first American Football Summit on 2 November 2023. International speakers are also expected, which is why the event will be held mainly in English. The content of the event will focus on American football in Germany in general and the future strategy of the National Football League in Europe in particular.
In addition, Dr. Alexander Steinforth, head of NFL Germany, will give insights into the final preparations for the two NFL games in Frankfurt via video call. Oliver Luck (former President of NFL Europe) will also be on hand to share his wealth of experience about the NFL's activities in Germany. His son Andrew Luck (former NFL quarterback) will expand on these impressions. Andrew Luck played for the Indianapolis Colts from 2012-2018 and will be joining us live for the Summit shortly before their game in Frankfurt. In addition, Stefan Heim, responsible for stadium development at 1. FC Nuremberg, and Andreas Kufner, responsible for the cooperation between FC Bayern Munich and the Kansas City Chiefs, among other things, will talk about the importance of American football for their clubs.
In addition to the scientific debate, there will also be a sporting aspect: Those interested can try out their talent on a ball-throwing machine, among other things. The football teams from Bayreuth and Nuremberg will be there. The event is open to anyone interested in football and will take place on 2 November, starting at 4 p.m., in lecture hall 24 (RW Faculty) of the University of Bayreuth and in the associated foyer. The American Football Summit is organised by the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bayreuth. This first conference in higher education on American football reflects the philosophy of the faculty to take up international trends and to accompany them scientifically in Bayreuth from the very beginning. The University of Bayreuth is networked with over 150 partner universities worldwide. In addition, the RW Faculty runs an extremely successful visiting professor programme, which attracts internationally renowned academics to Bayreuth every semester. With more than 5,000 students, the RW Faculty is the largest at the University of Bayreuth and offers law, business administration and economics under one roof - and these combinations are also put into practice: the degree programmes in Health and Sports Economics, Industrial Engineering and Business Informatics as well as International Business & Development and Philosophy & Economics set innovative accents with their interdisciplinary approach. Interested students can still enrol for the winter semester 2023/24 until 15 October.
