University of Bayreuth, Press Release No. 009/2026, 28 January 2026
Students are enthusiastic about the Unsity of Bayreuth
The University of Bayreuth has once again impressed in the nationwide "StudyCheck University Ranking" and is one of the most popular universities in Germany in 2026. With top ratings and a high recommendation rate, it ranks 7th among all universities.

The University of Bayreuth (UBT) can once again count itself among Germany's most popular universities in 2026, thanks in large part to its students, who rated the University of Bayreuth on the StudyCheck website. The current StudyCheck university ranking is based entirely on the ratings and recommendations submitted by students and graduates. They have once again voted the University of Bayreuth into the top 10 with above-average positive feedback.
A total of 87,093 reviews from 583 universities were analysed in the 2025 annual ranking. The rankings are based on star ratings and recommendation rates – without a jury, without external factors, purely on the perceptions of those who study here. With 360 published reviews from 2025, the University of Bayreuth was well above the minimum threshold for participation in the award. The students awarded a total of 4.14 out of 5 stars and recommended the University of Bayreuth in 94 per cent of cases. This results in a score of 8.84. Last year, this figure was 8.74.
The highest ratings were given to access to literature (grade 4.4), course content (grade 4.2) and lecturers (grade 4.1), followed by courses (grade 4.0), facilities (grade 4.0), organisation (3.8) and digital learning (grade 3.8). These strong ratings reflect the high level of identification students have with their university.
The positive trend is also evident in the long term: 997 reviews have been published over the past three years – a clear sign that many students are actively involved and using their voice. In the "Most Popular Universities" category, UBT ranks 7th in Germany. Here, too, the results are determined exclusively by the students: review content, recommendation rates and the number of experience reports are directly incorporated into the ranking.
"The positive assessment of the University of Bayreuth by our students shows that our offerings are convincing and that students feel very comfortable here," says University President Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible.
