Fixed-Term Postdoctoral Researcher (Akademischer Rat auf Zeit)

The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research and teaching. The Geomorphology research group in the University of Bayreuth's Faculty of Biology, Chemistry & Earth Sciences is seeking to fill a position as a

with 100 per cent of the regular weekly working hours (currently 40 hours). The position is initially limited to three years, which can be extended by a further three years, and is remunerated according to salary grade A 13.

Your profile:

• University degree (MSc or comparable) in the field of geography, geosciences, environmental sciences or comparable
• Completed dissertation on a geomorphological topic, ideally in one of the below-mentioned
  research fields, as weil as relevant publications
• Experience in methods of process geomorphology, e.g. process monitoring based on different sensors, time series analyses, geophysical exploration, surface models, sediment analysis, modelling and dating techniques, remote sensing
• Teaching experience and dedication to academic teaching
• Good knowledge of German and English

Your responsibilities:

• Independent research work with connection to one of the focal points of the Geomorphology research group (weathering processes, alpine morphodynamics, sediment budgets, recent and Holocene river dynamics)
• Independent organisation and implementation of research work, evaluation of field and
  laboratory data
• Interdisciplinary collaboration with scientists from the Bayreuth Geosciences Group and other research institutes
• Scientific publication and application activities
• Teaching duties within the scope of 5 SWS (semester hours per week)
• Participation in academic self-governance
