Project information

In times of climate change, flooding events negatively affect agriculture, since most crops are very sensitive to waterlogging and submergence. But some wild species naturally occur on wet soil and have evolved mechanisms to cope with floods. In this project we aim to investigate the genetic and anatomical traits linked to flood tolerance in Cardamine species (Brassicaceae, the mustard family) adapted to different soil moisture levels.

We are seeking candidates with an MSc in Biology, Biochemistry, or closely related disciplines, a strong scientific interest, and high motivation. Ideally, you already have some experience working in a molecular biological or biochemical laboratory. Very good knowledge of German and/or English (written and spoken) is required.

The University of Bayreuth values the diversity of its employees as an enrichment and explicitly commits to the goal of gender equality. Women are therefore strongly encouraged to apply. Applications from individuals with children are very welcome. The University of Bayreuth is a member of the Best Practice Club “Familie in der Hochschule e.V.” and has successfully participated in the HRK audit “Internationalization of the University.” Applicants with severe disabilities will be given preferential consideration if equally qualified.
