IT-Specialist (m/f/d) in the Research Data Management team – Repository Service
is to be filled starting March 1, 2026.
Your Responsibilities:
- Administration and operation of the institutional repository (based on DSpace) for publishing scientific research data
- Further development and customization of the repository software to meet the requirements of the University of Bayreuth
- Integration of the repository into the existing IT infrastructure and research data management workflows
- Technical support and error analysis during ongoing operations
- Collaboration with researchers and central institutions to support the publication and long-term storage of research data
- Documentation of processes, interfaces, and technical solutions
- Participation in the design and implementation of quality assurance and long-term preservation measures
Your Profile:
- Completed university degree or vocational training in computer science, information science, or a comparable qualification
- Experience in administering web applications, ideally with DSpace or similar repository systems
- Knowledge in web application development, especially with:
- Java
- JSP/Servlets, Spring Framework
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript for frontend customization
- Experience with REST APIs and XML/XSLT for interfaces and data formats
- Experience with Linux server administration and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with metadata schemas such as Dublin Core, DataCite, MODS, MARC21, or other relevant standards in research data management
- Understanding of requirements in the field of research data management
- Excellent German and English language skills
- High level of commitment and initiative
- Strong communication and social skills
- Willingness to independently learn new topics
- Team-oriented working style, motivation, and willingness for regular and continuous professional development

Remuneration is based on pay group 13 TV-L. The place of work is Bayreuth. The position is initially limited to two years. An extension is generally possible upon successful performance until December 31, 2032.
