PhD Position in Polymer Chemistry and Biosensors
The position can be filled for three years starting on April 1, 2026 and is funded with a salary according to the German public service pay scale TV-L E13 (50%).
The place of work for this position is at the University of Bayreuth in Bayreuth, Bavarian Polymer Institute - BPI.
Your tasks:
The PhD project will cover
- the synthesis and characterization of polymeric-based core-shell particles
- enzyme immobilization and investigation of their loading activity
- fabrication of biosensors and investigation of electrochemical reactions
Your profile:
- Master’s degree with an expertise in preparative polymer or organic chemistry
- Knowledge in surface modification and polymerization techniques via ATRP, RAFT, etc.
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment and undertake experimental research
- Excellent analysis skills and an analytical mind-set
- An ability to work independently and as a member of a research team
- Ability to review and engage with interdisciplinary studies
- A strong motivation for science and proficient written and oral communication skills in English are crucial for the successful completion of this challenging project
