Full Professor of Business Administration with a focus on Management Accounting (Controlling) (m/f/d)
at salary grade W3 to commence in Summer Semester 2026. This is a permanent civil service position.
Applicants should have an excellent academic research record with relevant publications in high-ranking international and national journals and demonstrate a committed approach to academic teaching. A distinctive research profile is expected, in which issues of strategic controlling and value-based management are analysed on an economic, theoretical and/or empirical basis. The chair participates in business administration teaching and represents the focus on controlling in all business administration degree programmes as well as in the so-called Bayreuth WP option in accordance with § 13b WPO. The willingness to participate in interdisciplinary research and teaching as well as academic self-governance, in management and in the further development of study programmes is particularly desirable. This includes cooperation with the Business Research Centre for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (BF/M) and, if applicable, other institutes and the interdisciplinary research units of the faculty; as well as participation in the doctoral programme and interdisciplinary cooperation in teaching, especially in the business administration focus areas FACT (Finance, Accounting, Controlling & Taxation) and Management. A track record in acquiring external funding would be an advantage.

In addition to the general legal requirements, prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree, proven excellence in teaching, and a post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation). Alternatively, evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement, for example as a junior professor or in a non-university environment, will also be considered. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants. Exceptions will only be made if there are urgent reasons for doing so (Art. 60 para 3 BayHIG).
