The Chair of Operando-Analytics for electrochemical energy storage at the University of Bayreuth’s Bavarian Center for Battery Technology (BayBatt) is currently seeking to appoint a
PhD Student (m/f/d)
to commence as soon as possible.
The position (E 13 TV-L, 50 %) is initially limited to one year to define the research topic.
BayBatt brings together battery-specific expertise in physics and chemistry, material science and engineering, as well as information technology and economics as a supra-regional competence center located in Bayreuth.
Your responsibilities:
- Interdisciplinary work on battery materials
- Synthesis, testing, and characterization of electrode-carbon composites for battery application
- Establishing structure-property relationships
- Insights into Carbon-electrode interactions
- Utilization of modern test equipment, e.g. electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy
Your profile:
- An above-average Master´s degree in chemistry
- Strong expertise in solid state chemistry, inorganic materials synthesis and composite preparation
- Expertise in the characterization of functional solids, inert sample handling, and working with gloveboxes
- Knowledge on battery materials is of advantage
- Open-minded, team-oriented and pragmatic, solution-oriented character
- Enjoying experimenting, planning and evaluating
- Excellent communication skills (talking and writing), also in English
