PhD position (m/f/d)
The position is temporarily limited for 3 years and will be paid according to the German public-sector level E13.
The term of this position is fixed in accordance with the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz) and is intended to promote academic qualification. The exact duration and scope of the employment are determined by legal as well as personal requirements. In all other respects, the hiring requirements under the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act (BayHIG) apply.
The research area of the professorship Mobile Computing and Telemedicine includes human-centred interaction design for medical data and AI systems, digital collaboration and telemedical care across distances, as well as digital health education and empowerment of students and patients.
Your task:
- Research in the core areas of the professorship
- Development and evaluation of interaction techniques as well as systems for collaboration and health education
- Publication in research journals and presentation of research results at (inter)national conferences
- Supervision of theses and support in the implementation of teaching events
Your profile:
- A good to very good master’s degree in computer science, human-computer interaction, medical engineering or related disciplines
- Good programming skills for interactive systems (e.g. Unity, web design, Python)
- Fundamental knowledge of HCI concepts (e.g. user-centred design and evaluation)
- Experience with experimental design, both quantitative and qualitative
- Experience in the following is optional but beneficial: statistical data analysis
- Excellent English language skills in speech and writing, and the willingness to learn German for social interaction with students within 2 years
- Enthusiasm for methods related to human-computer interaction and relevant subject areas (health)
- Enjoy interdisciplinary collaboration and responsibility
- Interest in practical research
- Independent, reliable and flexible way of working
- Commitment, reliability and flexibility
- Organisational skills, communication skills and the ability to work in a team
- Open-mindedness in dealing with students and lecturers
