University of Bayreuth is internationally at the forefront in the field of environment and sustainability as well as in business studies

The University of Bayreuth has again improved in many areas in the international "Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects" and stands out particularly in the environmental and sustainability areas. In the subject "Business Administration", the University of Bayreuth even came in second in Germany.

The "Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects" evaluates various academic departments. The University of Bayreuth was ranked in a total of twelve subjects. Bayreuth's expertise in the field of environmental sciences is particularly striking. In the field of "Ecology", the University of Bayreuth is ranked 101-150 worldwide, making it one of the best nine to twelve universities in Germany. In the fields of "Earth Sciences" and "Agricultural Sciences", the University of Bayreuth is ranked 151-200 worldwide. The University of Bayreuth is among the best 201-300 universities worldwide in the field of "Environmental Science & Engineering". In Germany, this means a ranking of seven to twelve.

"The area of 'Sustainability and Environment' has long been particularly important to us as the University of Bayreuth. We were one of the first universities in Bavaria to adopt a sustainability strategy and thus also consciously focus on this area," says Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible, President of the University of Bayreuth. "Many of our research projects deal with promising topics for the future. This strong outlook on sustainable ways of living and producing is now also paying off with outstanding results in these areas in the Shanghai Ranking."

The University of Bayreuth achieved a special advancement in the area of "Business Administration". Worldwide, the UBT is ranked 151 - 200 and has improved significantly compared to the previous year (301 - 400). Among German universities, the University of Bayreuth is thus in second place, together with the TU Munich.

The "Shanghai Rankings" evaluate the research performance of universities worldwide on the basis of publications in important journals such as "Nature" and "Science", the citation rates of scientists and academics, and various prizes. In the latest main edition of the rankings, the University of Bayreuth has moved up two rank groups and is now ranked 501-600 worldwide.
