Starting at 5 pm, the University invites visitors to experience an unforgettable evening of music, food, art, and entertainment. UNIKAT features a vibrant mix across three stages, catering to every musical taste. This year’s line-up includes DJ Aetos, REIS (jazz/fusion), IsiZoe (R&B), LisaRuftAn (alternative rock), RuBenMusik (one-man band), Larissa & Rolf (acoustic), and ParaSol (psychedelic rock). Even classical music fans are in for a treat with a performance by Kulturfreunde Bayreuth at the city’s longest communal table.
Amidst palms, blooms, and beats, guests can also join yoga and Zumba sessions, explore Green Campus workshops on sustainability, or discover the sensory richness of the garden on guided tours such as “Spices & Culinary Herbs: Smell, Taste, Discover!” and “Sounds of Nature: An Acoustic Journey through the Tropical Garden”. With picnic areas, a children’s programme, and interactive stations like body painting and an ÖBG rally, the garden transforms into a lively festival landscape.
A visual highlight of the evening are the walking acts – artists who are turned into living canvases through body art who mingle with the visitors and bring the space between the stages to life.
On the culinary side, guests can expect a world tour of flavours, with street food stalls serving up a diverse range of delights. As night falls, the venue will be magically illuminated, offering the perfect backdrop to round off the summer celebration.
This year, and for the first time ever, the University of Bayreuth Foundation will present the "Beyond Research Award" as part of UNIKAT. The new prize honours members of the University who develop bold, interdisciplinary projects in research, teaching, or Third Mission, integrating at least two of the University’s cross-cutting themes: internationalization, digitalization, equal opportunity, and sustainability. The award offers up to €10,000 in funding to support the development of disruptive ideas that tackle the major challenges of our time.
