Researchers at the University of Bayreuth achieved top positions in the “THE World University Ranking” in an international comparison in the fields of “Research Productivity” (scientific output) and “Research Income” (third-party funding) with 97.7 and 97.8 out of a possible 100 points. However, the current WUR also confirms the University of Bayreuth's strength in industry contacts: It achieved a very good overall score of 81.7 out of a possible 100 points for both patents and third-party funding income from industry and is now ranked 295 out of 2,092, placing it in the top 14% of universities listed worldwide in the WUR in this category. The results in the “Teaching” category, which evaluates the learning environment and teaching, are also good. Here, the University of Bayreuth achieved 343rd place.
Despite tougher international competition - 2,092 universities were listed this year instead of just under 1,900 - the University of Bayreuth was able to improve by a whole ranking group overall: Bayreuth is now in the 301-350 ranking group.
“These pleasing results show that the Bavarian High-Tech Agenda has massively strengthened our research infrastructure. In particular, the WUR proves that our researchers are working at a top level and at the same time intensively cultivating practical relevance,” says University President Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible. “This is our recipe for success in preparing young people well for their future careers and providing society with answers to its questions.”
