Starting points at European and international level are the EU Beating Cancer Plan and the WHO Framework for Alcohol Policy in the European Region (2022-2025). The coalition agreement of the Federal Government also mentions alcohol prevention as a priority. The industry must prepare for numerous innovations, for example changes to the Food Information Regulation, new regulations on warning labels, advertising, taxes and the minimum age for serving alcohol.
On 11 July 2023 (9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), experts from all over Germany will deal with these issues. Among others, the President of the Federal Office for Risk Assessment, renowned scientists, as well as representatives of the Bundestag, the Bavarian Ministry of Health, the German Brewers Association and the Bavarian Brewers Association, the German Wine Academy, the Competence Centre for Nutrition, and many more are expected.
The programme is divided into a scientific part in the morning at the Kulmbach campus of the University of Bayreuth and a practice oriented part in the afternoon at the Museums in Kulmbach's Mönchshof.
The Beer Law Day allows for a well-founded discussion of current legislative initiatives with actors from science, politics and practice. The conference is an initiative of the Chair of Food Law of the University of Bayreuth at the Faculty in Kulmbach, the Research Centre for Food Law and the Museen im Mönchshof e.V.
