University of Bayreuth, Press Release No 145/2023 - 10 October 2023

25 years of "Engineers made in Bayreuth"

In 1998, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Bayreuth (UBT) began research and teaching operations and welcomed its first students in October 1998. Now the University of Bayreuth is celebrating this anniversary with a ceremony, a showcase lecture, a science slam, a business day and an open day at the faculty.

"Since 1998, the Bayreuth Faculty of Engineering has developed into a recognised engineering education institution and a powerful, internationally visible research institution," says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Tremmel, Dean of the Faculty. Today, energy systems of the future are created there, sustainable products and their production are researched, batteries for the mobility turnaround are developed, modern materials are analysed and recycling is rethought, artificial intelligence is applied and biomaterials are developed - "and that's just a selection," says Tremmel. Anyone who would like to see this for themselves is cordially invited: "We would like to celebrate with partners from industry, with colleagues, our students, alumni and, above all, with the population," emphasises Dean Tremmel: "Be part of it and learn how engineering sciences 'made in Bayreuth' are helping to shape our future for the benefit of people and society!"

These events will take place around the "25 Years Ing." anniversary:

Forum Business Meets Science

Would you like to use the "Engineers made in Bayreuth" anniversary to explain to your readers, listeners or viewers which challenges of the energy or mobility transition are being researched at UBT? What ideas do the Bayreuth researchers have for the circular economy or remanufacturing? What role AI can play in this? What bioengineering from Bayreuth can do? We would be happy to arrange interviews with Prof. Tremmel or his colleagues around the anniversary. To do so, please contact pressestelle@uni-bayreuth.de
