100 years Black History Month Celebration Bayreuth

In honor of the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, Iwalewahaus proudly announces “100 Years of Black History in Bayreuth” a landmark exhibition and cultural event that commemorates a century of storytelling, resilience, and artistic brilliance within the Black Bayreuth community.

Black History Month

Scheduled from 3rd February 2026 until 28th February 2026 at Iwalewahaus, this exhibition showcases an exciting array of pieces from both celebrated and upcoming artists from among the students. Curators of the exhibition are also students from the University of Bayreuth who focus on theirs studys on African Verbal and Visual Arts. Displaying paintings,photography,media and performances.

This exhibition is not only a tribute to the past, but a powerful call to the future. For 100 years, art has been a vessel for truth-telling, liberation, and joy in Black communities. Iwalewahaus celebrates that legacy while uplifting the voices shaping the next century. The public is warmly invited to celebrate the legacy of Black history in Bayreuth.

Opening Date : 3rd February 2026, including a vernissage from 5-9 pm

Closing Date : 28th February 2026

Venue : Iwalewahaus
