The University of Bayreuth is growing – and that's a reason to celebrate! With the construction work currently underway across the campus, we are creating new spaces for research, teaching, and innovation that will further strengthen our university and make it fit for the future. The North-East Development project involves expanding the existing infrastructure to supply additional buildings on campus with electricity, heating, cooling, water, etc.
Until summer 2027, extensive work will therefore be carried out on the eastern part of the campus, which will prepare us optimally for further growth. In addition, the new Entrepreneurship & Innovation (E & I) building will be constructed in the immediate vicinity of the RW building from summer 2026 onwards. This will create a place where ideas grow, start-ups are created and innovation is lived: entrepreneurial thinking meets scientific excellence.
Please note:
Restrictions on parking
- Car park P1
Due to the construction of a site storage area for materials and equipment, there will be restricted use and partial closure of car park P1 from 30 June 2025 for the duration of the work. Access to the usable part of the car park will be ensured, but may vary depending on the individual progress of the construction work. - Car park P2
Due to the new E&I construction project, the south-western parking area of P2 will be closed. - Alternative parking options
Additional parking is available in the south of the campus near the TAO building. In addition, there are public parking spaces at Kreuzsteinbad, adjacent to the north of the campus, which are available for free use. Both alternatives are only a short walk from the campus.
Public transport
"Mensa" bus stop
The bus stop will no longer be served from 9 July 2025. Line 304 will then stop and turn directly in front of the AI building. From there, the cafeteria and other central facilities are within walking distance. Additional stops will also be created on Universitätsstraße (see diagram).
Pedestrian and bicycle traffic
During the construction work, there will be occasional restrictions on footpaths and cycle paths. The exact restricted areas will depend on the construction site layout and the specific work being carried out on site.
Footpath and cycle path in the entrance area to the campus
In particular, there may be temporary changes to traffic routing at the intersection after the entrance to the university grounds, at the location of the LED wall/welcome monitor.
