Construction work at the University of Bayreuth
Here you will find current information on the North-East development project at the University of Bayreuth: North-east development construction project: relocation of “Mensa” bus stop and restriction of parking spaces.
The University of Bayreuth is growing – and that is cause for celebration! With the North-East development project (Baumaßnahme Erschließung Nord-Ost), we are creating new spaces for research, teaching and innovation that will further strengthen our university and make it fit for the future.
In the course of this welcome development, however, some restrictions are unavoidable. Construction work on the campus expansion will begin in July 2025. This will have a particular impact on public transport and the parking situation around our campus.
Please note in particular:
The “Mensa” bus stop will be relocated from July 1, 2025. As a replacement, an interim stop will be set up in front of the AI building. From there, the canteen and other central facilities are within walking distance. Additional stops will also be set up on Universitätsstraße (for details please refer to the illustration below).
Parking will also be temporarily restricted – P1 will be partially closed and some parking spaces on P2 will be permanently removed. Stadtwerke Bayreuth and the University of Bayreuth are closely coordinating all measures in order to keep disruptions to a minimum. We will pass on up-to-date information and changes as soon as we become aware of them.
We kindly ask for your understanding during these temporary restrictions, which are in the service of the further development of our university. From July 2025, please allow more time for your commute and consider alternative ways of commuting, for example by bike or carpooling.
We will keep you regularly informed of current information via the university's official channels.
