Perennial gardener, ÖBG

There are a total of seven apprenticeships in the field of horticulture. The Ecological-Botanical Garden at the University of Bayreuth offers a three-year dual training course to become a perennial gardener. Trainees learn about many facets of horticulture, including not only perennials but also useful plants and potted plants. Most of the training takes place on site, at the vocational school and in inter-company courses.

Media and information services specialists in the library field manage and catalog books, journals and digital media. They advise users on information research and the use of library services. An important part of their work is also building up the collection and maintaining the library catalog. Technical tasks such as digitizing media and maintaining IT systems are also part of the job. In this way, they help to shape libraries as modern information centers. Training in the university library lasts three years.

Materials tester, specializing in metal technology

What are the properties of metallic materials? Materials testers use non-destructive, destructive and metallographic testing methods to test different material properties such as hardness, strength or formability and observe the applicable standards, regulations and test specifications. During your training as a materials tester specializing in metal technology, you will take samples, carry out measurements and document your test results. The vocational training lasts three and a half years and is based on a dual system, i.e. it takes place in the company (Chair of Metallic Materials at the University of Bayreuth) and at the vocational school in Selb (block teaching).

Electronics technician for devices and systems

Apprenticeship at the University of Bayreuth as an electronics technician (m/f/d)

Electronics technicians for devices and systems are responsible for developing and manufacturing electronic devices by adapting assemblies, designing circuit boards and assembling components. During your apprenticeship, you will test electronic components, install software and create technical documentation. The apprenticeship lasts three and a half years. You will be trained in the scientific workshops of the Central Technology Department at the University of Bayreuth.

Industrial mechanic for precision engineering

Training as an industrial mechanic in precision engineering in the Central Technology department takes three and a half years. You will acquire comprehensive knowledge in the manufacture and maintenance of precise mechanical systems and devices. Apprentices learn to read technical drawings, manufacture components and assemble and maintain complex machines and devices. In addition, skills in quality assurance, troubleshooting and the optimization of manufacturing processes are acquired in order to successfully implement the requirements in the field of precision engineering.

Glass apparatus maker or glass apparatus maker

Apprenticeship at the University of Bayreuth as a glass apparatus maker (m/f/d)

Training as a glass apparatus maker focuses on the manufacture and processing of glass appliances and systems. Apprentices learn how to melt, shape and process glass and how to join glass with other materials. They are also trained in the manufacture of special glass equipment and acquire knowledge in quality assurance and maintenance of this equipment. Training in the Central Technology department lasts three years.

Candidate civil servant at the 2nd or 3rd qualification level in the area of general administration

Training as a civil servant candidate at the 2nd or 3rd qualification level in the area of general administration in the central administration of the University of Bayreuth prepares you for a wide range of tasks in the public service. Trainees acquire knowledge in administrative law, budgeting and personnel management as well as in dealing with modern administrative procedures. During practical phases at the University of Bayreuth, they get to know the organization and processes of a university administration. The theoretical training takes place at state educational institutions. The duration of training is two to three years, depending on the qualification level. The 3rd qualification level is a dual course of study at the University of Administration in Hof (Diplom-Verwaltungswirt or -wirtin (FH)).

People from different backgrounds before PCs

The training to become a civil servant candidate at the 3rd qualification level in the field of administrative informatics at the University of Bayreuth's IT Service Center combines IT expertise with administrative knowledge. The dual training teaches the basics of software development, database administration and IT security as well as legal and organizational aspects of the public service. By alternating between theoretical phases at the university and practical assignments in the administration, trainees acquire a broad range of skills. The course lasts a total of three years and leads to a degree in administrative IT (FH).
