Prof. Dr Christoph Krönke Lieb appointed to German Government expert panel

Bayreuth legal scholar contributes to recommendations on strengthening Germany as a pharmaceutical hub

Prof. Dr. Christoph Krönke Lieb, Chair of Public Law, Economic Administrative Law, and Sustainability and Technology Law at the University of Bayreuth, has been appointed by Germany’s Federal Government to the expert committee on the ‘Location Clause under Section 130a SGB V’. This joint committee of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Federal Ministry of Health is tasked with drawing up proposals by the end of September 2026 to strengthen Germany as a pharmaceutical hub. The focus is on promoting investment, ensuring resilient supply chains and improving the framework conditions for research and innovation.

The high-profile expert panel includes representatives from academia, business, politics and local government. Prof. Dr. Krönke Lieb brings to the panel, in particular, his expertise in European, economic and regulatory law. The panel is tasked with developing proposals that are legally sound and compliant with European law, which are to be incorporated into the legislative process before the end of this year.

I am delighted that our university’s expertise is in demand in this important social and political decision-making process.”The expert panel’s recommendations are to be submitted to the Federal Government by 30 September 2026.
