Looking back on the anniversary UNIKAT 2025

The weather was perfect for the rainy midsummer. With tropical temperatures, the anniversary celebration on July 19 was a lively affair. For the seventh edition of the event, the motto “The 50UND of Celebration” referred to the university's 50th anniversary.

The tried-and-tested mix of the unique atmosphere in the Ecological-Botanical Garden, a diverse music and supporting program, and global cuisine was complemented by a variety of reminiscences of five decades of university development. This meant that the university's birthday could also be celebrated a little.

The varied program offered something for everyone: music ranging from classical to grunge, rousing dance performances, body painting, informative presentations on herbs and spices, and interactive activities for young and old alike—visitors were able to experience the diversity of the University of Bayreuth and its talents up close. Science became tangible, art became visible, and dialogues came to life.

For the first time, newly established research prizes from the University Foundation were awarded as part of this year's event.

The great response was particularly gratifying: students, staff, families, alumni, and guests from the city and region took the opportunity to celebrate, discover, and exchange ideas together. The positive atmosphere, the many creative contributions, and the great commitment of all those involved made UNIKAT 2025 a very special experience.
