Research Associate (m/f/d) in the field of "fiber-reinforcet composites" with the possibility of a doctorate 

The Chair of Polymer Engineering headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Ruckdäschel is looking for a research associate (m/f/d) in the field of fiber reinforced composites within the scope of an aeronautical research (LuFo) project (initially limited for 3 years). Within a broad project consortium, bio-based resin systems in combination with natural fiber reinforcement for interior cabin components are to be developed  to replace petro-based phenolic resin/GFRP systems currently in use. One focus is on the investigation of the flame retardancy of the fiber composite materials, taking into account the structure-property relationships of the resin systems, additives and textiles used, as well as on the life cycle assessment of the material system.

Your profile: 

You have an above-average university degree (Diploma or Master), preferably in the following technical fields:

  • Material science
  • Mechanical engineering / plastics technology
  • Chemical engineering / process engineering
  • Physics or chemistry with experience in polymers

Furthermore, you are characterized by an above-average interest in scientific issues concerning fiber-reinforced plastics. You bring along a high degree of motivation and initiative and convince with a confident appearance and a good command of written and spoken English. Optionally, you have further knowledge in the fields of informatics, digitalization or sustainability.
