Kanzlerin und Präsident der Uni Bayreuth vor einem Weihnachtsbaum.

Dear members and supporters of the University of Bayreuth,

after the years marked by the pandemic, we were actually looking forward to a return to normality and the best conditions for a new start together in 2022.

However, things turned out differently. The world-historical events of the past year have once again confronted each of us individually, but also the University of Bayreuth as a whole, with new challenges and additional tasks for which there were no easy answers, quick solutions or sufficient compensation. We were very impressed by how you nevertheless contributed all your energy and ideas in order to continue working with a high level of identification with the University of Bayreuth even in these difficult times. We are aware that this cannot be taken for granted and are very grateful for this constructive cooperation, which also constantly motivates us for our work.

Even if, in retrospect, we were once again able to rejoice in successes and further developments, the common path to get there took a lot of energy under emotional tension, time pressure and cost-cutting constraints. It is now high time for a little distance and rest.

Enjoy the short winter break. Do what helps you to regain your performance and clear your head. In the circle of friends and family, with Christmas traditions or new experiences, where you feel at home and secure!

We would also like to thank all our supporters and cooperation partners outside the University of Bayreuth who have supported us in the past year with their ever-appreciated advice and many a beneficial deed. We are also grateful for your idealistic and financial support as well as your exemplary function in your commitment to the University, the city and the region.

Together with you, we look forward to another successful, happy and mutually inspiring year in 2023.

Until then, we wish you all a happy holiday season and a good rest!

Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible, President of the University of Bayreuth

Dr. Nicole Kaiser, Provost of the University of Bayreuth
