University of Bayreuth, Press Release No. 059 - 26 April 2022

Apply now for additional study program "Digital Leadership Academy" at the University of Bayreuth

Those who want to acquire competencies in the areas of digitization (thought leadership) and leadership skills (people leadership) in addition to their studies have the special opportunity to complete the Digital Leadership Academy alongside their studies at the University of Bayreuth (UBT). Participants in the certificate program benefit from active participation in research work, renowned practical contacts, soft skills training and individual mentoring. Applications for the third year of the Digital Leadership Academy (DLA) are still open until May 06, 2022. An information event will be held on April 29, 2022.

"For us, thought leadership means professional excellence in topics related to digitization and deals with the exciting areas of digital transformation, digital business & innovation and digital disruption," explains Prof. Dr. Maximilian Röglinger, Chair of Business Informatics and Value-Based Process Management at UBT and responsible for the DLA. He explains further: "People Leadership, on the other hand, stands for leadership skills and soft skills with which the participants can sharpen their personal profiles. We don't repeat any of the content of the degree programs, but rather supplement and round them out in specific areas." Master's or advanced bachelor's students of economics, engineering, applied computer science, business informatics, business mathematics and industrial engineering or related fields are eligible to apply. Enthusiasm for current interdisciplinary digital topics as well as above-average academic performance and commitment beyond their studies are prerequisites.

  • The current application period for the third cohort of the Digital Leadership Academy runs until May 06, 2022.
  • In addition, an information event will be held on April 29, 2022 at 2 p.m. per MS Teams.
  • More information on the application process and the info event is available here: https://www.digitalleadershipacademy.de/ .

The structure of the program

Lectures, seminars and workshops with lecturers from several universities - the universities of Bayreuth and Hohenheim, the universities of applied sciences Augsburg, Kempten, and Frankfurt - and practice partners (Allianz Technology, Arthur D. Little, Oetker Group, Schott, Zeiss and strategy and management consultancy Zeb), two semesters, group work, team-building measures and fireside evenings with top-class executives, in presence, internships and research phases. Participants can thus build their own network of valuable practice partner contacts. By collaborating on publications, they gain scientific insights and can work on future-oriented issues and digitization-related research topics. The intensive mentoring with science and practice mentors also helps them to reflect on their own career and future planning.
