Ideas competition at the University of Bayreuth seeks ideas for an innovative future

The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Bayreuth has once again announced an ideas competition. Individuals and teams from all over Upper Franconia can participate until 31 October.

Together with the Wirtschaftsjunioren Bayreuth, the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (IEI) is looking for ideas from individuals and teams as well as from students and employees, freelancers and self-employed and all other creative minds from Upper Franconia. Participation is open to anyone whose idea addresses a problem that is, for example, of social relevance or addresses an environmental problem, improves medical care or abolishes inequality of opportunity - in other words, anything that offers a solution.  It does not matter how big or small the idea is, whether it reaches a huge or tiny target group and is dedicated to a regional or national issue. Likewise, it is not important how far the idea has already been developed. An outline of the idea must be submitted, describing the idea on two A4 pages. The content should address the topics of business model, market, profitability, idea, target group and feasibility. The 2022 Ideas Competition will run until 31 October 2022.

In 2021, the ideas competition was held for the first time. It was a great success, which the team around contact person Leonie Gärtner would like to build on: "We are looking forward to receiving many innovative idea submissions again this year." Last year, diGIRLab, which has since been formed as a start-up, took first place.

As last year, there are attractive prizes to be won by participants. The sponsor of the first place with prize money of 1,000 euros is REHAU New Ventures. "The ideas competition is an exciting experience for us," reveals Alexander Mietzke, Head of Digital Innovation Lab at REHAU New Ventures. "We get an insight into the local start-up scene and see what potential there is in the young talent. We can hardly wait to see what ideas will be presented to us at the finals this year." After a pre-selection in early November, the finalists will be invited to a pitch workshop where they will learn how to speak in front of an audience and present their idea. The final, which is open to the public and free of charge, will take place on 17 November 2022 in the Iwalewahaus Bayreuth. Pre-registration via Eventbrite is necessary due to limited space. That the final event is likely to be booked up quickly is clear at the latest when Ali Mahlodji is mentioned. The internationally performing TED talker will provide further inspiration as a speaker on this evening.
