The presentations of experts from universities, companies and local politics will deal with technologies for the production of green hydrogen, the use of hydrogen in regional energy systems using the example of the ZET Reallabor Energiezukunft Wunsiedel, with scenarios of future grid development in the electricity sector and the use of fuel cells in the transport sector, but also with the importance of hydrogen for the energy supply in Africa. A panel discussion on the topic "Local, regional, global - opportunities and risks of the market ramp-up of green hydrogen" will round off the event.
"Our hydrogen symposium spans current aspects of the production, storage and use of hydrogen as an energy carrier. We want to sound out the potential of hydrogen as an energy carrier of the future with those responsible from science, industry and politics. This will also include concrete goals that should be addressed in the near future in order to exploit this potential soon. At the same time, the event will make visible the broad spectrum of competencies on the topic of hydrogen that we have already developed on the Bayreuth campus and want to further expand in cooperation with companies and public institutions. For this purpose, the University of Bayreuth has launched its hydrogen strategy ‚Hy.Efficient!‘ in 2021," says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dieter Brüggemann, Director of the Centre for Energy Technology (ZET) at the University of Bayreuth.
The Bayreuth Hydrogen Symposium on June 28, 2022, is part of the "Week of Hydrogen" which will take place this year from June 25 to July 3, 2022, as the "Week of Hydrogen South" (#WDWS2022). The "Week of Hydrogen South" is an initiative of H2 MOBILITY Germany.
