Fifty-seven higher education institutions applied to participate in the pilot phase of the audit, only five of them were selected, among them the University of Bayreuth with its continuing education institution, the Campus Academy. The project will run between October 2022 and June 2023. To implement it, each university will form an internal project team that will enter into a comprehensive analysis process in cooperation with the external team of the audit. Existing structures, procedures and processes of the Campus Academy will then be jointly evaluated and compared with the university's strategic and operational goals. This analysis will later serve as a starting point for developing an individual strategy for further action steps and activities. The respective higher education institution is to be comprehensively supported in its individually chosen objectives. The audit is supplemented by active networking with other universities. In addition to the Campus Academy of the University of Bayreuth, the continuing education institutes of Humboldt University Berlin, TU Braunschweig, TH Ingolstadt and TH Cologne were also selected.
The "view from outside" is an opportunity for the Campus Academy for Continuing Education to analyse and reflect on the status quo and to further align it with the goals of the University of Bayreuth. This also benefits the participants in the continuing education programmes: the aim is to sharpen the profile of the programmes and optimise structures and processes. After all, topics such as digitalisation, artificial intelligence and crisis management are pushing the economy to act flexibly, while the shortage of skilled workers is still on the rise. Continuing education will therefore permanently take on a key role in helping to shape and support this change.
About the Campus Academy for Continuing Education
The Campus Academy was founded in 2003 by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dieter Brüggemann and is the central continuing education unit at the University of Bayreuth. It offers academic continuing education at an academic level in part-time degree programmes, seminars and certificate courses. Its focus is on the areas of sport, health, sustainability/ethics as well as business administration and law. The Campus Academy regularly offers knowledge transfer projects together with various chairs of the University of Bayreuth, which are funded by the European Social Fund and benefit small and medium-sized enterprises in the region in particular.
