Research Associate (m/f/d) in polymer materials with the possibility of a doctorate
Chair of polymer materials
As one of the largest chairs at the University of Bayreuth, we conduct research on polymer materials and manufacturing methods. The use of digital technologies is a core element of our research. This includes the development and investigation of processing technologies and machine learning.
Research Associate (m/f/d) in polymer materials with the possibility of a doctorate
Your tasks:
In a publicly funded project (initially limited to 3 years), you will investigate the foaming behavior of recycled PET . The relationships between material, process and properties are to be elucidated. In cooperation with a company, the focus will be on chemical modification, digitalisation of the process and foam production. In particular, the properties of the foamed materials are to be correlated with the material and process parameters. Based on the results, a comprehensive understanding between the materials, process and foam properties shall be established.
The research topic is carried out at the Chair of Polymer Materials and includes the use of digital methods based on comprehensive material characterization, targeted material modifications as well as material processing and a scientific evaluation with the aim to establish fundamental structure-property relationships.
Your profile:
You have an above-average university degree (Master or Diploma), preferably in the following technical fields:
- Materials science / materials science
- Mechanical engineering / plastics technology
- Chemical engineering / process engineering
- Physics or chemistry with experience in polymers
You are characterized by an above-average interest in scientific issues of plastics technology. You bring a high degree of motivation and initiative and convince with a confident appearance and a good command of written and spoken English.
Our offer:
- Possibility to do a doctorate
- Collaboration in a dynamic research team
- Versatile field of activity in a technically above-average well-equipped laboratory environment
- Innovative scientific work in combination with application-oriented research
- Exchange with leading digital companies
- Numerous industrial contacts
- Pleasant working atmosphere, versatile social events, coffee-for-free
