Researcher (m/f/d) E 13 TV-L (65%)
The Atmospheric Chemistry Group
Application deadline:
In the Atmospheric Chemistry Group at Bayreuth University, the position of a researcher (m/f/d) for a novel research project is to be filled as soon as possible for the limited period of the project duration (planned for 3 years):
Researcher (m/f/d) E 13 TV-L (65%)
General
The Atmospheric Chemistry Group explores exchange processes between Earth and atmosphere with the aim to understand their influence on air quality, weather and climate.
Research Project
Volatile organic compounds (VOC) are trace gases of anthropogenic and biogenic origin. They are important precursors for the formation of secondary pollutants, such as ozone and particles, and thus have an impact on air quality. However, their role for urban air quality is poorly understood so far.
Within a new project, we aim to study the composition and the variability of VOC in urban air, in order to examine their sources and impact on air quality. We will conduct two comprehensive measurement campaigns in two cities, analyse the datasets statistically and compare to two models. For the measurement of the VOC, we will combine two methods so that we will detect them with high temporal resolution and high selectivity and sensitivity (PTR-ToF-MS, TD-GC-MS).
We are seeking for…
A highly motivated researcher (m/f/d) to join our team for the VOC measurements and their scientific analysis.
Apply, if…
- you successfully finished your Master’s (M.Sc.) in Atmospheric Chemistry or Physics, Meteorology, Environmental Chemistry, Geoecology, Physics, Chemistry, Earth system sciences or Engineering
- you are generally interested in atmospheric processes
- you have good technical skills and experience in running analytical instrumentation
- you have excellent statistical skills for working on large datasets
- communication and coordination are your strengths, and you enjoy working jointly in an international team
- you are able to work independently, structured and focussed on solutions
- you are flexible, eager to travel, and own a valid driver’s licence (class B for Germany)
This position is generally suited for preparing a Dissertation.
