The University of Bayreuth with its familial campus is one of the largest employers in the region. The chairs of Polymer Materials for Electrochemical Storage and Electrode Design for Electrochemical Energy Sytems at the University of Bayreuth’s Bavarian Center for Battery Technology (BayBatt), located in the industrial area Bayreuth North, are currently seeking to appoint a full-time (40,1 hours/week)

to commence as soon as possible. If applicable: information on the duration of the position, e.g.: This is a fixed-term civil service position for two years. A permanent position is planned upon probation.

BayBatt brings together battery-specific expertise in physics and chemistry, material science and engineering, as well as information technology and economics as a supra-regional competence center located in Bayreuth.

Your responsibilities:

Diverse activities in the fields of polymer chemistry, material preparation and batteries:

  • Preparative and analytical activities
  • Carrying out training courses
  • Maintenance and procurement of equipment
  • Safety officer, preparation of risk assessments
  • Instruction on working safely in the laboratory and monitoring compliance with laboratory regulations
  • Organization of chemical safety and chemical disposal
  • Procurement, inventory management and use of gas cylinders and chemicals

Your profile:

  • Completed training as a chemical laboratory technician
  • Preferably professional experience in the fields of polymer chemistry and batteries, ideally documented by relevant work or interim certificates
  • Knowledge of TRGS and BetrSichV
  • Experience as a safety officer, preferably also as a first aider and fire protection officer
  • Experience in the organization of laboratories and maintenance of equipment
  • Team spirit, initiative and willingness to familiarize yourself with a wide range of activities
  • English as a foreign and technical language
  • Good Office skills (Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, preferably also Access)

Remuneration is provided up to salary group 9a TV-L if the collective agreement and personal requirements are met.
