KinderUni has a long tradition in Bayreuth. It has been taking place since 2007, always with action-packed lectures and a wide range of topics. "We aim to pique children's natural curiosity and arouse enthusiasm for scientific issues at an early age," says Prof. Dr. Martin Huber, Vice President Teaching & Learning at the University of Bayreuth. "We very often experience that outside the classroom, especially in the large Audimax, we are particularly successful at imparting knowledge to even primary school pupils at quite a high level and in a fun way."
The lectures that professors prepare especially for KinderUni are not unlike a classical lecture, but enriched with effective experiments and hands-on participation. Ursula Küffner from the Press, Marketing & Communications unit, who has been organising KInderUni so successfully since 2011, confirms that this has gone down very well. "The fascinated faces, the many questions at the end of the lecture, and also the response from parents and teachers all confirm our pedagogical concept." Ursula Küffner has received quite a few messages from children and parents during the two-year break necessitated by coronavirus, impatient for KinderUni to resume - from parents because they too can enjoy lectures while their children are in the Audimax, one added feature of the Bayreuth KinderUni.
Pupils from 2nd to 6th grade of all school types are welcome, admission is free, registration is not required.
