"We are very pleased that the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation is again supporting us so generously this year," says Ralf Brugbauer, Library Director. When the University Library received the first commitment for a grant of € 300,000 from the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation in the summer of 2012, it could not have been foreseen that this would result in support that has now lasted for ten years. In recent years, UB has received a total of around € 2.3 million from the Foundation and has acquired almost 40,000 volumes for it. “Over the last decade, the Foundation's funds have contributed to providing researchers and students at the University of Bayreuth with literature of the highest quality," reports Brugbauer.
As part of a comprehensive funding programme for science, the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation supports university and research libraries throughout Germany. In addition, the Institution, founded in 1958 on the initiative of Ernst von Siemens, offers an extensive academic programme at its home in Munich-Nymphenburg.
