Campus Day of Faculty VII Life Sciences:

Date: 09.07.2022
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Registration is not necessary.

"Exciting research and interesting teaching around food, nutrition and health - that's what the new faculty in Kulmbach stands for. We look forward to visitors and lively exchange on topics that concern us all," says founding dean Prof. Dr. Stephan Clemens. Guided tours through the old Villa, the administrative building of Faculty VII, through the new laboratories in the "fritz" and also to "Urban Gardening", a project of the students on the former Kaufplatz site, provide insights into everyday university life in Kulmbach.  Dr. Susanne Strebin, coordinator of Faculty VII and responsible for the operation of the faculty in Kulmbach, will also be on hand to answer questions on July 9: "Every day I look forward to observing and helping to shape the rapid infrastructural development at our faculty. It would be wonderful if the people of Kulmbach could also get a personal impression of this on Campus Day."

Visitors can carry out small experiments in the laboratory under guidance and, for example, immerse themselves in research by using a microscope. Among other things, they can see what happens to our liver when we eat an unhealthy diet over a long period of time. At the "fake food buffet" guests can participate in a study themselves: Those who put together a typical lunch for themselves there can then have the selection expertly analyzed for health aspects and gain insights into their own nutritional behavior. Those who have further questions about the scientific focal points in Kulmbach, about metabolomics, vertical farming, food chain management, food law or public health, can personally ask the professors present.

A large part of the event is devoted to information about the courses of study. The University of Bayreuth currently offers three courses of study in Kulmbach: the English-language master's programmes "Food Quality and Safety" and "Global Food, Nutrition and Health" as well as the German-language bachelor's programme "Food and Health Sciences". They will also be presented on July 9. At the information booths in the administration building, prospective students can talk to students and the Faculty's Study Service and get first-hand tips on applying, starting their studies and campus life.

By the way: tickets for the popular summer event of the University of Bayreuth, the UNIKAT, can also be purchased at the Campus Day in Kulmbach.
