+++Cancelled +++  Annual Academic Celebration 2021

Dear Members of the University of Bayreuth, Students, and Guests,

Unfortunately, we have to inform you that we have cancelled the University of Bayreuth dies academicus planned for Thursday, 25.11.2021, due to the pandemic.

Even though we have been looking forward to celebrating this festive event with you, in accordance with the revised legal basis for infection protection in Bavaria, in view of the rising incidence and hospitalisation rates, and acknowledging our responsibilities, it would not be appropriate to hold the event and run the risk of infecting the personages and guests involved.

Please understand that due to the short notice of the cancellation this year, it will not be possible to substitute it with a virtual event.

We ask for the understanding of all persons who had planned to participate in great solidarity with the University of Bayreuth, and especially of the personages who were to be honoured during the event.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to them and to all those who have supported the University of Bayreuth with such great commitment over the past year.

Unfortunately, it is not yet foreseeable how and when we will be able to make up for the event or to award the honours in an appropriate setting.

We will certainly keep you informed of any developments in this regard.

Until then, we ask you to take special care of your health, and wish you a peaceful pre-Christmas period and a successful end to the year.
