Bachelorstudium

The bachelor's degree – getting your career off on the right foot.

We are pleased to see you are interested in the bachelor's programmes offered at the University of Bayreuth. Chances are your first few weeks in Bayreuth will be similar to the experience most new students have. You will be finding your way around our friendly campus in no time, and before you know it, you will be able to answer the question "Why study in Bayreuth?" as if it were your second home.

Three types of bachelor's degrees

After you complete your high school education or A-levels, your first career-qualifying degree is likely to be a bachelor's degree, for which the standard period of study is six to eight semesters. For successful completion of your studies in Bayreuth, you will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), or a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), depending on the programme in which you were enrolled. You can then continue your studies with a master's degree (M.A., M.Ed., M.Sc.) or other form of postgraduate study, whether directly after graduation or after first having gained some career experience. You will find the most important questions and answers concerning our bachelor's programmes here. ... more

The bachelor's degree in Bayreuth offers you even more.

Several of the bachelor's programmes are offered in major/minor combinations: at the start of their studies, new students select a minor subject area that is integrated into the degree programme. Some of the minors offered emphasize the interconnections between scientific theory and practice, while others are designed to equip students with a broad understanding of the subject areas. Please note: a separate application for admission to your minor is not required. New students simply sign up for the minor of their choice when enrolling at the Student Administration Office - it's that easy.

Studying individual modules

The University of Bayreuth provides all students with the opportunity to complete supplementary programmes in theatre education or teaching German as a foreign language.  You can also study individual modules to help meet your personal and professional goals. Students can select modules from our bachelor’s and master’s programmes, take the exam at the end, and earn credits and a certificate. Further details are available from the Student Administration Office. We have put together an overview of the individual modules that can be studied each semester. In addition, students of the University of Bayreuth can take course online via the Virtuelle Hochschule Bayern, which also offers a number of courses in English.
