My research interests include ecosystem responses to climate change, land use change and human impacts. Particularly, I am interested in plant water use and photosynthesis in mixed forests along elevation and climate gradients. I am also interested in evaluating ecosystem services related with water and carbon regulations by plants in a Kenyan savanna. Currently, I am examining key traits of grassland species for differential drought responses and evaluating the role of species diversity in drought tolerance for grassland resilience. This research is a part of Biodiversity Exploratories, funded by German Research Foundation (DFG).
